E-learning is getting increasing attention by educational institutions. The assessment of the knowledge acquired by students of e -learning courses is mainly achieved by means of multiple-choice tests that require the teacher to formulate a large number of questions/answers pairs. Several methodologies and tools for the automatic generation of questions have been proposed in the past. Now the challenge is to widen the domain of automatic question generation systems to non-technical subjects. In this paper I will describe the “E-generation in E-learning” project that aims to evaluate and improve automatic question generation methodologies by means of analogy-based techniques to implement an automatic question generation system that best suites the needs of today e-learning platforms such as Moodle.
