The paper introduces the current state of an ongoing research project devoted to the study and development of a user-friendly query interface to access open data. More specifically, the interface has been conceived so to enable simplified queries over heterogeneous data from different sources, such as public governmental sources or private structured repositories. This has been done by expanding the function-alities of an already existing interface for querying knowledge bases. The aim of this paper is showing the main interface features, highlighting the research questions they respond to and the open issues we intend to explore as next steps of the project.

Abstract

The paper introduces the current state of an ongoing research project devoted to the study and development of a user-friendly query interface to access open data. More specifically, the interface has been conceived so to enable simplified queries over heterogeneous data from different sources, such as public governmental sources or private structured repositories. This has been done by expanding the function-alities of an already existing interface for querying knowledge bases. The aim of this paper is showing the main interface features, highlighting the research questions they respond to and the open issues we intend to explore as next steps of the project.
