In this paper we describe the early stages of a project to make learning of computer programming easier for people with and without dyslexia/dyscalculia. Several additions to classic IDEs for block-based programming environments, based on general directions to improve learning for people with learning disabilities such as dyslexia/dyscalculia, are proposed. The proposed additions will be evaluated in a large test on students with and without dyslexia/dyscalculia from different school levels and grades, based on the general finding that, when reviewing specific topics with LD students, the style of explanation they required always brings improvements to lessons and course resources.

Abstract
In this paper we describe the early stages of a project to make learning of computer programming easier for people with and without dyslexia/dyscalculia. Several additions to classic IDEs for block-based programming environments, based on general directions to improve learning for people with learning disabilities such as dyslexia/dyscalculia, are proposed. The proposed additions will be evaluated in a large test on students with and without dyslexia/dyscalculia from different school levels and grades, based on the general finding that, when reviewing specific topics with LD students, the style of explanation they required always brings improvements to lessons and course resources.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
