The analysis of the archaeological evidence, epigraphic and literary sources made it possible to verify how the funerary cults practiced in Roman Sardinia between the late Republican and early imperial age had been influenced by the specific historical context of the island, characterized by the interaction between Punic and Roman-Italic cultural traditions. The aim of this paper is to demonstrate, through the investigation of some case studies, how this archaeological documentation confirms the involvement of Sardinia in the historical-cultural dynamics of the so called ‘religious Romanisation’, a complex phenomenon concerning the nature of the influence employed by the Roman dominion on a religious level over the conquered territories.
