The essay analyzes the architectural story of the convent of Santa Rosalia, of the Observant Friars Minor, founded in 1740 in the Marina of Cagliari, following an agreement with the Sicilian Association, owner of a church dedicated to the Palermitan saint on the same site. The transfer of the religious turns out to be complex and full of interesting facts, due to the dutiful interference of the state authority, to which the area of the previous convent, adjacent to the fortifications, was sold, and the delicate negotiation with the Sicilian Association. Designed by the Piedmontese military designer Augusto de la Vallée, the convent of Santa Rosalia denotes the international horizon of its creator, aimed at the rococo and Mediterranean culture, perhaps reinvigorated by the forced coexistence with the Sicilian Association. The annexed church, on the other hand, denotes deep ties with the confraternity
