Tourism is one of the main growing sectors in the global economy bringing new opportunities associated with the transportation offer. The Covid -19 health crisis, which caused a major shock in tourist flows, also represents the main “watershed” for the evaluation of any changes that occurred in the tourism development model and its destinations. In Italy - including the islands - there is a significant recovery in tourist flows postCovid-19. In this framework, the objective of the paper is to develop a methodological approach based on geospatial analysis to evaluate the spatial distribution of tourism flowin Italian insular contexts. In this sense, the Sardinia Region in Italy represents an interesting case study to analyze tourist destinations related to air and maritime traffic (pre and post Covid-19). The manuscript, which is part of the “e.INS – Ecosystem of Innovation for Next Generation Sardinia”, supports the construction of the airport MaaS concept, to better organize the transport offer in the insular context, enhancing sustainable mobility.
