Frammenti di un’isola: il found footage e il cinema sardo

This essay aims to explore a neglected research field concerning film studies in Sardinia, namely the production of found footage films from 2006 to the present day. These terms refer to those films made of pre-existing materials, whether they are ‘found objects’ or archival occurrences described and catalogued. Our aim is to map the context in which found footage has developed in Sardinia over the last twenty years, taking into consideration the impulses given by the Società Umanitaria – Cineteca Sarda, the experienced authors who have dedicated themselves to the reuse of films, and the new generation of authors who have found in found footage an artistic field of choice.

Il saggio intende perlustrare un ambito fin qui poco studiato del documentario in Sardegna, ossia la produzione di film di found footage dal 2006 a oggi. Con questi termini si intendono quelle pellicole elaborate a partire da materiali filmici pre-esistenti, siano essi ‘oggetti trovati’ oppure occorrenze d’archivio descritte e catalogate. Il nostro fine è stato quello di mappare il contesto in cui si è sviluppato il found footage in Sardegna negli ultimi vent’anni, prendendo in considerazione gli impulsi dati dalla Società Umanitaria - Cineteca Sarda, gli autori di lungo corso che si sono dedicati al riuso di film e la nuova generazione di autori e autrici che hanno trovato nel found footage un campo espressivo d’elezione.
