Nowadays developments in microcomputers offer reliable tools to support planner’s professional practice. While good results have been achieved in spatial management processes, there is still a lack of reliable methodology for developing strategic planning support system. Moreover recent trends in the planning paradigm face the interaction of specialists coming from different disciplines in an interdisciplinary process of planning and managing environmental transformations. In the light of these research issues the authors aim to report the application of Spatial Information Technologies to urban re-development in cultural heritage sensitive historic city centres.
