The research aims to reconstruct the complex nature of the economic and social networks that, between the 16th and 18th centuries, developed around the fishing and trade of Sardinian coral in the Upper Tyrrhenian area. The work was carried out by first systematizing the abundant existing literature on the subject and, more importantly, by combining traditional historiocal research methods with the use of computational methodologies and tools to process informational data extracted from different types of documentary sources gathered from local, national, and international archives.
