The article analyzes the mechanisms used by news media to define and classify environmental disasters and weather warnings in Sardinia and Sicily, employing the sociocultural profiling method of Emotional Text Mining applied to 166 articles covering a 24-month period from January 2022 to December 2023. A sociocommunicative perspective is adopted in the article, using the Social Amplification of Risk Framework and agenda-setting in order to satisfy two research questions.
