Road networks and generally transport infrastructures are fundamental in assuring accessibility in a country and in substaining its social and economic development. A transport system often results extremely vulnerable to disasters caused by natural or human events. Vulnerability assessment of a transport network is relatively new field of research and it is not considered in planning improvement projects by road owners or administrators. This paper describes a methodology for assessing the vulnerability of links of a road network due to natural hazard using GIS applications. Authors’ aim is to provide another tool for planners and administrators of road network to define improvements priorities and also to manage emergency situations.
