La piazzaforte di Alghero nel Cinquecento. Il disegno del baluardo di Montalbano nell’opera degli ingegneri militari. Comparazioni stilistiche-costruttive

The contribution shows some results of a research based on the study of military treatises, in the examination of projects and works realized by the military engineers active in Sardinia in the sixteenth century. The graphical analysis of the documents and the survey of the existing architectures in the strongholds of the Island, highlights project choices, carried out with the use of construction techniques and reuse of existing structures in the land front of Alghero, in a period characterized by a fast development of the art of war and of the fortifications "alla moderna."
