In this paper, an observability approach to the synchronisation of chaotic systems is presented. The proposed method allows for the reconstruction of a chaotic attractor from a scalar signal and its derivatives, and it refers to output feedback control techniques for uncertain nonlinear systems. Due to the robustness properties of variable structure control with sliding modes, it is possible to achieve synchronisation also if some mismatching in the system model is present.

Abstract
