Objective: The aim of the work was to test the efficacy of early Home Visiting intervention oriented to enhance the quality of mother-child relationship within dyads in which the mothers were at risk for depression, at psychosocial risk or presented both risks. Method: The sample has been selected as follows: 38 low risk women, 39 at psychosocial risk, 37 women at risk for depression and 32 with double risk, who have been randomly assigned to either the intervention group or the control group. Women were between 20 and 43 years old. AAI, IRMAG, IRMAN, CES-D and SCL-90 have been administered to both groups. During the first year of age of the child the dyadic interaction has been video-taped at 3, 6 and 12 months of the infant. Results and conclusions: Results have shown a different distribution of maternal representations of the self and the child in the four groups and have also shown the efficacy of early Home Visiting intervention with respect to an increase in maternal sensibility within the group of home-visited mothers since the 6th month of the child’s life.
