Three-body nuclear forces play an important role in the structure of nuclei and hypernuclei and are also incorporated in models to describe the dynamics of dense baryonic matter, such as in neutron stars. So far, only indirect measurements anchored to the binding energies of nuclei can be used to constrain the three-nucleon force, and if hyperons are considered, the scarce data on hypernuclei impose only weak constraints on the three-body forces. In this work, we present the first direct meas...
We report about the properties of the underlying event measured with ALICE at the LHC in pp and p-Pb collisions at root sNN = 5.02 TeV. The event activity, quantified by charged-particle number and summed- pT densities, is measured as a function of the leadingparticle transverse momentum (p(T)(trig)). These quantities are studied in three azimuthalangle regions relative to the leading particle in the event: toward, away, and transverse. Results are presented for three different p(T) threshold...
This works aims to investigate the impact of wind forcing datasets and wave breaking parameterizations on spectral wave model performance under extremely energetic conditions. For this purpose we used the wave model WaveWatch III to simulate the evolution of the highly energetic storms that occurred in winter 2013/2014 in the North-East Atlantic. We forced the wave model with two different wind datasets: one proceeding from the ECMWF ERAS reanalysis dataset and the other from satellite observ...
Angular distributions of the decay B+→ K∗(892)+μ+μ− are studied using events collected with the CMS detector in s = 8 TeV proton-proton collisions at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 20.0 fb−1. The forward-backward asymmetry of the muons and the longitudinal polarization of the K∗(892)+ meson are determined as a function of the square of the dimuon invariant mass. These are the first results from this exclusive decay mode and are in agreement with a standard model predict...
Measurement of the CP-violating phase ϕs in the Bs0→J/ψϕ(1020)→μ+μ−K+K− channel in proton-proton collisions at s=13TeV
The CP -violating weak phase ϕs and the decay width difference ΔΓs between the light and heavy Bs0 mass eigenstates are measured with the CMS detector at the LHC in a sample of 48500 reconstructed Bs0→J/ψϕ(1020)→μ+μ−K+K− events. The measurement is based on a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 96.4fb−1, collected in proton-proton collisions at s=13TeV in 2017–2018. To extract the values of ϕs and ΔΓs, a time-dependent and flavor-tagged angular analysis of the μ+μ−K+K− fin...
