Data on Selachians collected from 1985 and 1998 during 22 trawl surveys as a part of Italian national project (GRUND) are presented and discussed. Trawlable bottoms from 5 to 700 m (800) depth in all Italian seas were investigated: 44 species( 1 rabbit fish; 17 sharks and 26 skates) were caught by otter trawl. The highest number of species was found in the Strait of Sicily; only six species were common in all seas. Vertical distribution was also considered. For the main species, the number of individuals per hour and Kg/h per stratum and per survey are given.
