Abstract
Recent studies suggest that baclofen, an agonist of B type receptors of the inhibitory neurotransmitter, -aminobutyric acid (GABA), employed for more than 20 years in the treatment of muscle rigidity, also helps patients affected by alcohol dependence to achieve and maintain abstinence from alcohol. Despite the high number of patients affected by alcohol dependence and by other mental disorders, few pharmacological studies have been conducted in this special population. This study describes the effectiveness and safety of one year baclofen treatment in a patient affected by alcohol dependence and schizophrenia.File in questo prodotto:
