The selective oxidn. of arom. and aliph. thioethers with aq. H2O2 catalyzed by metal-free ammonium salts was explored. Reactions were performed using 2.5-5 mol% of catalyst loadings, affording the corresponding sulfoxides in good to excellent yields (75-93%) and with high selectivity.
