Research studies on personal space have demonatrated the relevance of such variables as sex,age,aff1nity,culture,Ceelina state and personality. Thls study examines the relatlonehip between personel spece and two personality ractors:extraversion and anxiety.It ie based on the statement that extraversion ie a deeirable trait and anxlety ls a non desirable one.Consequent1y lnteraction distancea with lntroverted and with anxioue sUbjecta shoud be larger than the interactlon dlstancee with extrave!: ted and with low anxloue eubjecta. The hypotheeie wae tested on a sample of remaIe university studenta.Subjecta completed the 16PF,the IPAT Anxiety Scale and a mod11'ied varaion 01'tha Com1'ortabla.Iàtsrpersonal Dietance Scale.They were asked to pIace on this CIDS modified form 4 persons,thst each 01'them had previouely to chooee fram the same aroup participating in the reeearch. The placement deslgn conaidered rour lnteraction distancee;IE and anxiety scores were examined with reference to each 01' them. The statistical comparison supporta the hypothesis.The su2 jects had no lnformation about their personality characterlstics, consequently the theme neede more study about the problem of the peceptlon of lE and anxlety traita.
