Post-surgical ablation of thyroid remnant with radioactive iodine (RAI) in differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) is aimed to destroy any thyroid remnant in the thyroid bed (remnant ablation) and any microscopic foci of cancer cells eventually present within the thyroid remnant (adjuvant therapy).
