L’Atre Périlleux, a French romance in verse of the XIII century, is part of a narrative cycle which has as protagonist Gauvain, and which includes the literary tradition inaugurated by Chrétien de Troyes. But these romances are not a simple or a linear and neutral recovery, these romances have a strong comic, parodic, and often, as in our case, also allegorical mode. With this process and with this textual semiosis, the authors intend not so much destroy the tradition of courtly romance but rebuild it on a new basis and new moral ideals. In doing so, L’Atre Périlleux in specific, remodels the structure and the representation of time (and space), suggesting time frames and the being of time itself, frames and being that are different from each other, but cleverly blended, and with more or less hidden references to shamanism. With a fine game in which the reader is continuously displaced between diegetic size and discursive-textual structure, between letter and allegory, between empirical-linear time and suspended time, between life and death.
L’"Atre Périlleux", romanzo francese in versi del sec. XIII, fa parte di un ciclo di romanzi aventi quasi tutti come protagonista Gauvain, che riprendono la tradizione letteraria inaugurata da Chrétien de Troyes. Ma non è una ripresa semplice o lineare, neutra. Questi romanzi hanno una forte componente comico parodica e spesso, come nel nostro caso, anche allegorica. Con tale procedimento testuale e con questa semiosi, gli autori intendono non tanto demolire la tradizione del romanzo cortese quanto ricostruirla su nuove basi ideali e morali. Nel far ciò, l’"Atre Périlleux" in specifico, riplasma la struttura e la rappresentazione del tempo (e dello spazio), proponendo modalità temporali e dell’essere del tempo, diverse ma abilmente amalgamate, e con più o meno celati richiami allo sciamanesimo. Con un finissimo gioco in cui il lettore si trova continuamente spiazzato fra dimensione diegetica e struttura discorsivo-testuale, fra lettera e allegoria, fra tempo empirico e lineare e tempo sospeso, fra vita e morte.
