An integrated study of biotic and abiotic factors, in a marginal area of Sardinia has been realized in the Santa Lucia catchment (southern-western Sardinia). The study has been carried out on the ground of previous studies, adding new environmental surveys for soils and vegetation. In particular, has been realized an evaluation of soils and vegetation state of conservation and relationships with erosion processes, geomorphology and bioclimate in the catchment basin. A Geographical Information System and a “soil erosion suitability” model has been elaborated by analysis of georeferenced data and their organization into databases, starting from environmental aspects as geopedology, slopes, drainage density and degree of vegetation cover. The G.I.S. and the soil erosion suitability model can be a useful tool in the regional and local planning policy of biotic and abiotic resources. Moreover it can be used to better contrast soil degradation processes and get a rational and sustainable use of landscape and natural capitals.
