Abstract

The documents on “Banditi a Orgosolo” (Bandits of Orgosolo) preserved at the Vittorio De Seta archive reveal a precise working method that slowly develops around the director’s first motion picture, and finally reveals the specificities of his authorial style. De Seta’s aim was not just to make a neorealist film, but a film could combine documentary and fictional elements. A long documentation and creation stage, during which the director takes note of the places where the film is to be subsequently leads to the involvement of local people in the filming process.
