In the current reality, there is a tendency of understanding change as being synonymous with improvement, no matter the direction and quality of the change. The domain of education is no exception to this phenomenon, with educational change being perceived as progress. This article aims to provide a survey on the category of change, in order to demonstrate that no educational process can be materialized without establishing a preliminary set of choices and criteria through which to evaluate the process itself.
