The aim of this paper is to create a better understanding of issues related to the configuration and role of philosophy in the contemporary world. Summarizing his research, the author puts forward the idea that a critical hermeneutics, as a methodologically and epistemologically structured procedural model and as a theoretical-practical philosophy, may productively work between disciplines of different kinds, which represent its main ‘mission’ in this age. Beyond its uniqueness and specificity, philosophy must work in parallel with the challenges and problems related to the fragmentation and dissociation of sciences. This is part of its mission; this is something that makes philosophy still alive and essential.
