This essay intends to focus again the attention on translation as a key semiotic concept by means of comparison with some of the most recent developments in Anthropology. In fact, the anthropological debates on the so called “ontological turn” offer to Semiotics new approaches and case studies useful to rethink, enrich or rediscover our ideas of translation, meaning generation, reality. At the same time Semiotics, recovering and rearticulating the concept of translation through and with concepts like co-relation, correlations, entanglement, identity without equivalence, equivalence without identity, can offer to Anthropology and to all the scholars involved in the work of analysis of meaning and cultures a new set of theoretical and methodological tools.
