The research on the defensive systems is developed by the Restoration Chair at the Faculty of Architecture in Cagliari (DICAAR), in collaboration with the University of Edinburgh (ESALA), and it is included into the academic master degree courses and the PhD School in Civil Engineering & Architecture. These studies are based on a consolidated interdisciplinary approach, supported by the cooperation of experts in restoration, survey, technical architecture, geomaterials, geophisics and design. The focus is the analysis of a wide number of case studies with a systematic view of the whole Sardinian context, paying a particular attention to the issues concerning ruins.
