A procedure for determining the thermodynamic properties of pure fluids is proposed which proves particularly suitable in the study of direct and inverse thermodynamic cycles. The procedure utilizes a volumetric-type analytical equation of state which holds for both the liquid and vapor phase with a single expression for different fluids. It is structured with a view to ensuring the broadest generality and operating flexibility.

Abstract
