After a detailed assessment of the edition of Apuleius’ De magia and Florida by Martos (Madrid 2015), starting from a discussion of his textual critical arrangement in several problematic passages, this article puts forward new proposals for the constitutio textus of the De magia. The following loci uexati are here especially discussed: Apol. 35.4; 79.6; 90.6; 96.4. Most of the proposals advanced are based on the individuation of plausible duplices lectiones, the false one and the amended, sometimes supplied with graphic signa of integration or correction; in these cases, the expunction of the falsa lectio seems to improve the Latin text neatly and solve a number of controversial textual problems.

Abstract
After a detailed assessment of the edition of Apuleius’ De magia and Florida by Martos (Madrid 2015), starting from a discussion of his textual critical arrangement in several problematic passages, this article puts forward new proposals for the constitutio textus of the De magia. The following loci uexati are here especially discussed: Apol. 35.4; 79.6; 90.6; 96.4. Most of the proposals advanced are based on the individuation of plausible duplices lectiones, the false one and the amended, sometimes supplied with graphic signa of integration or correction; in these cases, the expunction of the falsa lectio seems to improve the Latin text neatly and solve a number of controversial textual problems.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
