New hypotheses on Guillaume d’Angleterre

The aim of this article is to propose a new datation of the "Guillaume d'Angleterre", placed, in my opinion, in the second half of the thirteenth century: the hypothesis is based on the evident analogy between the figures of the protagonist Guillaume and his wife Gratiene and the historical figures of the “Holy-King” Louis IX ˗ king of France from 1226 to 1270 ˗ and his wife, The Queen Marguerite of Provence. "Guillaume" also reflects the lively theological debate that occurred in those years in relation to issues such as the usefulness of the merchant class and the possibility of an ethical exercise of merchant activity.
