The first aim is to understand the meaning and the actual purpose of the term paroksa (and atiparoksa) and of its opposite pratyaksa used in the same passages by Durga in his commentary on the so-called Nirukta popular etymologies. At this aim a comparison between some quotations selected from Nirukta and Brahmanas and Vakyapadiya is here proposed.
