The paper takes a critical look at research carried out on Sardinia’s Pre-Punic and Pre-Roman linguistic substratum, and proposes a novel interpretation of methodological and specific aspects of the topic. The article has as its scope the Prehistory and Proto-history of the western Mediterranean and makes an in-depth analysis of Sardinia’s relationship with the Paleo-Iberian substratum, also in the light of genetic and archeological evidence.
