In this article we wanted to demonstrate the contribution of numerical corpora to terminological research. We have analyzed the circulation of the two terms abattoir mobile and unità mobili di macellazione in the official texts of the European Union (EU), of the two Member States, i.e. France and Italy, which regulate the animal welfare sector. The use of the numerical corpus was essential from the moment in which the denominative variants of the two terms could be extracted and described. Thus, the interpretation of the contexts in which candidate terms appear is fundamental for the analysis of the point of view (PdV) and of the linguistic choices made by the speakers on the discursive scene. Digital corpora can be useful not only to improve the quality of existing terminology banks but also to build new ones.
