This study, in the light of phraseological approaches, attempts to define phraseological competence by analyzing the data from a doctoral thesis in FLE Didactics conducted at the Sorbonne Nouvelle University. The latter, involving a sample of 150 Italian-speaking students from different universities, allowed, through two questionnaires - self-assessment and exercises -, to describe this sample on the basis of the "phraseological" skills and build a database to perform analyses on the identification and processing of phraseological elements and to annotate the types of translations and errors. In this study, we put forward hypotheses about the importance of phraseological competence and reflect on the possibility of integrating it into a teaching path of FLE.
