Le avventure di Pinocchio (1883) by Carlo Collodi presents a complex onomastic system that poses a challenge to translators. In this paper we examine the rendering of names in six Spanish translations, published between 1912 and 2019. Using a contrastive and diachronic approach, we compare the solutions adopted not only in the different translations but also within each of them. A methodology that combines onomastics, translanguaging and corpus linguistics is applied with the aim, among others, of testing Retranslation Hypothesis.
