The paper offers general considerations on pagan funerary inscriptions of the ancient Roman city of Thignica (Ain Tounga, Tunisia). Several topics are considered about the whole corpus (composed of published and unpublished texts; the latter identified during a survey carried out in Thignica in September 2018): numerical strength, places of discovery / conservation, materials, monumental typologies, symbols. With reference only to published material some carmina are discussed, two of which, concerning soldiers, are bilingual and contain quotations from Greek and Latin epic poems. Some characteristics of non-metric texts are also analysed like onomastics, biometrics, formulas, chronology, and social status.
