The coast and sea bottom of the Gulf of Arzachena were studied from the geomorphological point of view. Echographical surveys and under-water samplings were carried out at sea. Different morphologies connected both to hot-wet climates (inselberg, residual surfaces at different levels, paleosoils) and to cold climates with consequent emersion of the present continental shelf, are evident on the coast. On the internal shelf , the Ria of Arzachena presents typical characteristics of fluvial valleys. Various sea-levels, represented by abrasion platforms and beach-rocks, are referred to the Tyrrhenian and Versilian transgressions.

Abstract
The coast and sea bottom of the Gulf of Arzachena were studied from the geomorphological point of view. Echographical surveys and under-water samplings were carried out at sea. Different morphologies connected both to hot-wet climates (inselberg, residual surfaces at different levels, paleosoils) and to cold climates with consequent emersion of the present continental shelf, are evident on the coast. On the internal shelf , the Ria of Arzachena presents typical characteristics of fluvial valleys. Various sea-levels, represented by abrasion platforms and beach-rocks, are referred to the Tyrrhenian and Versilian transgressions.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
