The paper analyses a well-known inscription, found in Sardinia, and studied by a numerous of scholars since the 19th Century, when it was included in the Raccolta d’iscrizioni antiche sarde sparse in vari luoghi dell’isola of Ludovico Baille. The not too clear position of the accompanying caption in this Raccolta has generated confusion, leading to relate the artifact to Olmedo, rather than to Cagliari. Re-reading the epigraphic text, evaluating its origin from Cagliari, allows us to formulate some new considerations, also in relation to the new knowledge about the city thanks to recent archaeological research.
