The article focuses on the identification of a built heritage that arose in the "empty" countryside of the island of Sardinia, starting from the "physiocratic" reforms of the 1800s and throughout the 1900s. The texts shows the methods explored to surbey this "invisible" heritage, from a multi-scale and interdisciplinary approach to the study of settlement transformations of these low-density territories, examining the landscaping role of the farms towards the management of rural areas.
