Abstract
As unit of a speech act, each utterance must encode a certain amount of information, whose structure has to be defined according to the communicative purpose and the shared knowledge of the participants. Therefore, it is crucial how the sender evaluates the current knowledge level of the receiver in order to establish which information has to be emphasized or selected as new. This article provides a contrastive German-Italian analysis of the most important formal means and encoding strategies that both languages employ to package information.File in questo prodotto:
