In the celebrations for the 400 years of the university of Cagliari (founded october 31, 1620) this paper proposes the historical reconstruction of the teaching of hebrew (1626-1873). Until 1763 the professors of hebrew were Jesuits. After the reform of 1764, the professors of hebrew and scriptures have always been religious but belonging to other orders. The second part of the paper offers a short prosopographic presentation of the last teachers
