After offering a codicological analysis of the manuscript tradition attesting to the unpublished Songe de la voie d’enfer et de la voie de paradis (that is the first rewriting of an allegorical voyage attributed to Pierre de l’Hôpital), the contribution aims to provide a reading of the author’s wider intervention on his source, consisting in the interpolation of a dramatic episode borrowed from the Roman des trois ennemis de l’homme and ultimately deriving from an exemplary tale of John Cassian’s Collationes. The analysis of the pericope, as transmitted by the tradition of the allegorical voyage and a further mise en scène, will be followed by some ecdotical considerations and further conclusions concerning the dynamics of re-elaboration of visionary literature and its relationship with the nascent theatre of morality.

Abstract
After offering a codicological analysis of the manuscript tradition attesting to the unpublished Songe de la voie d’enfer et de la voie de paradis (that is the first rewriting of an allegorical voyage attributed to Pierre de l’Hôpital), the contribution aims to provide a reading of the author’s wider intervention on his source, consisting in the interpolation of a dramatic episode borrowed from the Roman des trois ennemis de l’homme and ultimately deriving from an exemplary tale of John Cassian’s Collationes. The analysis of the pericope, as transmitted by the tradition of the allegorical voyage and a further mise en scène, will be followed by some ecdotical considerations and further conclusions concerning the dynamics of re-elaboration of visionary literature and its relationship with the nascent theatre of morality.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
