In the design of high-performance slot arrays (e. g. arrays for SAR, Windscatterometer, shipboard radar) one needs to take into account the mutual coupling between the array elements, in order to obtain a good input matching for the antenna. A synthesis method for small arrays (of the 'element by element' kind), which explicitly includes mutual coupling, has been recently proposed. In this paper we analyze this method and adapt it to analysis and synthesis of large slot arrays. After a short description of the method, we present analysis and synthesis which lead to the development of procedures efficient for small as well as large arrays. In this development , special care has been devoted to the reduction of the computer time and memory requirement (which is essential for arrays of thousands of elements) and to error analysis.

Abstract
In the design of high-performance slot arrays (e. g. arrays for SAR, Windscatterometer, shipboard radar) one needs to take into account the mutual coupling between the array elements, in order to obtain a good input matching for the antenna. A synthesis method for small arrays (of the 'element by element' kind), which explicitly includes mutual coupling, has been recently proposed. In this paper we analyze this method and adapt it to analysis and synthesis of large slot arrays. After a short description of the method, we present analysis and synthesis which lead to the development of procedures efficient for small as well as large arrays. In this development , special care has been devoted to the reduction of the computer time and memory requirement (which is essential for arrays of thousands of elements) and to error analysis.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
