Extrusive and Lateral Luxation Injuries in permanent teeth: Literature Review and Treatment Complications Update

The lack of widely accepted therapeutic protocols for the treatment of extrusive and lateral luxation, particularly in cases where the time elapsed since the trauma exceeds 3 to 12 hours, is a common challenge encountered in clinical practice. This gap in knowledge has prompted the undertaking of this review, which aims to address the following research questions: 1. To assess the existence of standardised protocols in the literature that advocate for orthodontic repositioning of luxated teeth as a viable alternative to manual repositioning. 2. To evaluate the common complications that arise following extrusive and lateral luxation trauma, as well as the most appropriate therapeutic strategies for managing these complications.
