The article examines the passage contained in Hex. 1.14.22, referred to the repeal of the senatus consultum Claudianum, in order to identify the earlier Byzantine legal text from which Harmenopoulos may have drawn it. After emphasizing the peculiarities of the passage through a comparison with Justinian’s law which repealed the aforementioned senatorial decree, the article explores the recent hypothesis that Hex. 1.14.22 may be extracted from the Peira and highlights further clues in favor of its plausibility.
