The theme of fruition of historical architectures intersects with one of the key pillars of heritage enhancement, which is the possibility of experiencing the built space physically or culturally. This paper addresses the issue of accessibility and, with a natural deviation, that of the visitability of ancient buildings and sites as a means to contribute to their active conservation through reuse. The discussion focuses on fortifications, for which the search for wider and more inclusive accessibility is one of the main challenges, embodying the ‘topos of exclusion’. This discourse presents the perspective of experts in restoration, architectural design, and heritage protection, and is organized around the following binomials: exclusion/inclusion; tangible/intangible; separation/connection; assonance/dissonance; listening/hearing; antagonism/mutualism.

Abstract
The theme of fruition of historical architectures intersects with one of the key pillars of heritage enhancement, which is the possibility of experiencing the built space physically or culturally. This paper addresses the issue of accessibility and, with a natural deviation, that of the visitability of ancient buildings and sites as a means to contribute to their active conservation through reuse. The discussion focuses on fortifications, for which the search for wider and more inclusive accessibility is one of the main challenges, embodying the ‘topos of exclusion’. This discourse presents the perspective of experts in restoration, architectural design, and heritage protection, and is organized around the following binomials: exclusion/inclusion; tangible/intangible; separation/connection; assonance/dissonance; listening/hearing; antagonism/mutualism.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
