Pedagogical journals constitute valuable historical-educational sources, fundamental for reconstructing thought itineraries, cultural debates, and teaching practices. Their dissemination, facilitated by the development of printing technologies in the 19th century, made them reference points for educators and scholars, and profoundly influenced the development of educational reflection and dissemination. Among them, the journal «Pro Infantia» played a central role in child pedagogy, particularly in the Catholic sphere. Renata Bressanelli's recent publication sheds light on this influential publishing initiative, meticulously tracing its history and contribution, but also uncovering, more generally, hitherto neglected dimensions of Italian Catholic pedagogyin the early 20th century. In comparison with the historiography on the subject, this article highlights the main contents and contributions of the research.
Le riviste pedagogiche costituiscono preziose fonti storico-educative, fondamentali per ricostruire itinerari di pensiero, dibattiti culturali e pratiche didattiche. La loro diffusione, favorita dallo sviluppo delle tecnologie tipografiche nel XIX secolo, le rese punti di riferimento per educatori e studiosi, influenzando profondamente lo sviluppo della riflessione e della divulgazione educativa. Tra queste, la rivista «Pro Infantia» rivestì un ruolo centrale nella pedagogia infantile, in particolare nell’ambito cattolico. La recente pubblicazione di Renata Bressanelli fa luce su questa influente iniziativa pubblicistica, tracciandone meticolosamente la storia e il contributo, ma anche scoprendo, più in generale, dimensioni finora trascurate della pedagogia cattolica italiana del primo Novecento. Nel confronto con la storiografia sull'argomento, il presente articolo mette in luce i principali contenuti e apporti della ricerca.
