This study focuses on the archaeology of preindustrial mining landscapes in the Iglesiente district of Sardinia, a region with a long history of mining activity. Although the impact of more recent industrial extraction activities has hindered the study of pre-industrial cultural strata, this work proposes a methodology to reduce the "informational noise" caused by such exploitation. By utilizing a variety of primary and secondary sources, the study aims to outline a geography of pre- industrial "waste landscapes." This approach is based on chronological indicators and specific markers, including archaeological and documentary evidence. The preliminary analysis conducted lays the groundwork for future field archaeological investigations, aiming to understand how industrial activities have influenced and, in some cases, obscured the understanding of pre-industrial mining practices. The research suggests the need for a systematization of the available data, thus contributing to the understanding of the stratification of mining landscapes over time.

Abstract
The research suggests the need for a systematization of the available data, thus contributing to the understanding of the stratification of mining landscapes over time.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
