La persona che diventeremo: materia affettiva, capacità e azione

This article addresses the problem of the person by following Paul Ricoeur’s perspective. It analyses some of its most important aspects and implications from a philosophical and scientific point of view. The question of person engaged Ricoeur’s reflection from his youth. Already in the first moment of his research there is a trace of that perspective line that will characterise his final philosophy of the person – that is, we are born as individuals, but to become a person is a process. The backbone of this conception (which is developed in dialectics with various scientific disciplines, in particular psychoanalysis and narratology) is rooted in a philosophy of the capable human being and in a specific concept of “narrative identity”. The problematic focus becomes the understanding of profound psychic life, and the relationship between subjectivity and corporality.
