Cortical brain tumors are frequently accompanied by epilepsy correlated with alterations of rhythmic brain activities such as specific spiking trains and slow waves. Given that, frankly epileptic spikes cannot be detected in a large part of epileptogenic tumors unless undertaking long monitoring EEG recordings. Moreover, considering the relevance in monitoring the epileptogenic potential of the brain tumors in a surgical setting, we investigated, in the present study the possibility that abnormal low frequency magnetic activity (ALFMA), recorded by Magnetoencephalography (MEG) can be of some help in mapping epileptogenic brain tumors, even in absence of clear-cut epileptogenic spiking activity.
